I have been a regular customer of Bucket Biryani, which makes this experience particularly disappointing.
After eating their Fire Chicken Biryani, I fell sick with diarrhoea and suspected food poisoning. I immediately informed the restaurant staff and requested a call from the owner because I felt it was important to bring the issue to their attention.
When the franchise representative called me, he initially seemed receptive and open to feedback. I specifically explained my concern about the Fire Chicken Biryani, as the chicken was unusually hard and tasted stale, leading me to suspect that it had been refried and reused. I made it very clear that I was not looking for compensation or anything free. As a loyal customer, all I wanted was for the restaurant to take the feedback seriously and ensure better food quality in the future.
To my surprise, the representative himself offered a goodwill gesture as compensation for my experience: a luxury dinner for my husband and me, consisting of four solo biryanis, two drinks, and desserts. I politely told him that this was unnecessary, but he insisted. I eventually accepted because I genuinely wanted to give this local business another chance. He even messaged me asking me to share a suitable date and time for the dinner.
However, when I contacted him the following day with the details, his tone and response were completely different. He abruptly informed me that the owner had not agreed to the dinner offer and simply forwarded the owner's response offering a refund or replacement of the original dish.
The issue here is not about getting a free meal. It is about trust, accountability, and keeping one's word.
I never demanded a luxury dinner. It was voluntarily offered to me by the franchise representative, who went so far as to ask me to schedule it. If he did not have the authority to make such an offer, he should have obtained the owner's approval before making that commitment. Reversing the offer the very next day, after encouraging me to accept it, was extremely unprofessional and disappointing.
I have retained the messages as proof of what was communicated.
What makes this experience worse is that I approached the restaurant constructively, as a regular customer who wanted to help the business improve. Instead of feeling reassured that my concerns about food quality were being taken seriously, I was left disappointed by the handling of the situation.
Bucket Biryani needs to understand that customer loyalty is built through consistent food quality, responsible handling of complaints, and professional communication. A refund or replacement may address the cost of a dish, but it does not automatically address a customer's concerns about food quality or restore trust.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, reviews its food preparation and handling practices, and ensures that its representatives communicate responsibly and honour the commitments they make to customers.
This experience has significantly affected my confidence in the brand, and I hope other customers do not have a similar experience!

We had the regular chicken biryani and the mughlai biryani. Both were really flavourful and not too spicy for a "western" palate. Loved the personal touch of a handwritten note in the order bag. There didn't seem to be any peas/veg in the chicken biryani like in the photo, but still really tasty.

Hi,
My name is Jano Kiri and my wife and I visited Bucket Biryani Whitby last week. I run a entertainment channel where I stream live to hundreds of viewers, with a strong following in the South Asian community, and the visit is already up as a stream recording.
During the visit, the order was mislabelled and my wife, who is vegetarian for religious reasons, ended up unknowingly eating chicken that had been mixed into the dish. This was upsetting for her, and it happened live in front of our audience. We'd appreciate knowing how you'd like to address it.
I'll be covering the visit further on YouTube as part of my regular content. I wanted to reach out directly first so that however this gets resolved can be reflected fairly in how we talk about it.
Let me know if you'd like to talk by phone or email, I have the live video recording.
Thanks,
